MIO-ERA is a musical project founded by Shanghai-born singer-songwriter Yifei Zhou, launched in 2024. As a multi-disciplinary artist, she is the primary songwriter, arranger, producer, vocalist, pianist, guitarist, stylist, choreographer and graphic designer for the project. The project was born out of a desire to create a safe space for all kinds of feelings and genuine expression to exist. She began performing under this name in 2024, the project was centered around a lot of self-reflection and identity searching, but also questions revolved around the idea of ephemera, the idea of conflict and the impermanence nature of life. She views each of her songs as friends, allowing them to find their own voice in society as well as its world. These songs ask questions that reveal their answers as the artist and listeners navigate themselves through life therefore none of them has permanent and definite meaning. These songs ask for reflection, faith, love, and resistance. Yifei aims to build a world through her music that welcomes everyone and their unique journey through life and their own experiences regardless of culture background or language or any existing labels.
